Joe Jackson Dies at Age 89

Joe Jackson has died at the age of 89. Jackson is the father of 10 children including Michael Jackson Tito Jackson, Rebbie Jackson, Jackie Jackson, Marlon Jackson, La Toya Jackson, Janet Jackson Jermaine Jackson and Randy Jackson.

Jackson was in the final stages of his battle with cancer and had recently been transferred to a hospice to live out his final days. The hospice was located in Las Vegas, and upon his death, the Clark County coroner announced he has died while being cared for at the hospice and that his death was deemed to be from natural causes relating from cancer.

As his final days were upon him, the Jackson family, including his estranged wife Katherine, was by his side. Reports had circulated last week that his days were coming to an end and his health was rapidly declining.

While many left messages of support upon hearing of his passing, those closely were quick to lend support to the Jackson family. Two of those were who jointly manage the estate of Michael Jackson. In a statement jointly issued, they said,

John McClain and John Branca released a stated that said,

“We are deeply saddened by Mr. Jackson’s passing and extend our heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Katherine Jackson and the family. Joe was a strong man who acknowledged his own imperfections and heroically delivered his sons and daughters from the steel mills of Gary, Indiana to worldwide pop superstardom.”

McClain and Branca continued by acknowledging his accomplishments in the music industry stating,

“Mr. Jackson’s contributions to the history of music are enormous. They were acknowledged by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002 in a proclamation naming him as Best Entertainment Manager of All Time; he was inducted into Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame in 2014 and his son Michael acknowledged him with a Joe Jackson Day at Neverland. We had developed a warm relationship with Joe in recent years and will miss him tremendously.”

Reports Confirmed Cancer Was Terminal

While the Jackson family is known for trying to keep their privacy, reports last week said that Jackson was approaching his final battle and that his death was imminent. With family by his side, that battle was lost on Tuesday.

Joe Jackson was married to his wife Katherine for nearly 70 years, but it was a marriage that was far from perfect. The couple lived separate lives for more than half their married life after Jackson bore a child with another women whom he had an extended decade’s long affair with.

The Jackson family chose to raise their flock in Gary, Indiana and it was during the 60ès that the Jackson 5, managed by Joe Jackson, rose to fame after signing a record deal with Motown Records. The Jackson 5 went on to become Motown’s most successful group.
