The Purge is one of the most alluring and action-oriented entertainment brands maintained throughout television/film. Producers behind the television series confirmed that one of the original films’ main stars would return for the finale of Season Two. Ethan Hawke, the father from the first film, is returning in some capacity. It’s known that this will be a pre-sequel season to the original movie, as the end of the film kills James Sandin (Ethan Hawke).
The Television Show
Amazon Studios created a sequel television series based around the Purge films. It premiered in 2018 with a 10-episodic event that followed a new set of characters. Amazon immediately greenlit a second season, which premiered a year later in October. The finale is slated to come on December 17th, 2019 and will see the return of James Sandin. Unlike previous entries in the franchise, the second season began at the end of the Purge Night. What is known about the upcoming arrival of Ethan Hawke is that he will be testing the first iteration of his corporation’s high-tech security system. It isn’t known how he will assist Ryan, Marcus, or Ben with their lives.
Films Nearly Complete
The Purge Franchise proved to be one of the most popular horror/thriller series since Saw. The creator of the franchise, James DeMonaco, believes that the 5th iteration in the franchise will be it’s last. This is because the recent format change to episodic television enables a more advanced and compelling story to be told. Though fans won’t be able to see their favourite criminal film franchise on the silver-screen anymore, that doesn’t mean it’s going away anytime soon. Amazon Studios has already confirmed a third season is coming.
None of the details about the 5th Purge Film is known right now. However, it’s been speculated this the finale film will see the American-Government collapse and purge night end. This would be the perfect send-off for the film franchise, which will undoubtedly continue on television for years to come.
